Coronavirous: District Councils Respond to Government Welfare Announcement

Responding to the announcement by the Chancellor that the Local Housing Allowance rate will be lifted, Cllr Giles Archibald, DCN Better Lives spokesperson, said:

“Districts have repeatedly called on the Government to ensure the Local Housing Allowance covers the costs of housing. There are too many householders on benefit who are unable to afford decent quality private rented housing, and are at risk of ending up homeless.

“We are pleased the Chancellor has chosen to act at this critical time for the country, and that many tenants may now sleep easier knowing they have a better chance of keeping a roof over their heads.”
