Cllr Sam Chapman-Allen has served as the Leader of Breckland Council since May 2019, ascending from his prior role as Deputy Leader. With an unwavering commitment to serving the community, he sets the council’s strategic direction and ensures the fulfilment of its statutory duties. Under his leadership, the council relentlessly pursues projects and initiatives tailored to uplift local residents and businesses.
Sam’s dedication to public service became evident when he was elected to the council in 2007. In parallel with his council duties, he has worked for the Rt Hon Sir Brandon Lewis MP, particularly during Mr. Lewis’s tenure as Minister of State for Housing and Planning at the Department for Communities and Local Government.
Presently, Sam holds the position of Chair for the District Councillors Network (DCN), representing every District Council in England. Further solidifying his influence in local governance, he serves as a national board member for the Local Government Association Executive Board (LGA). He is also recognised for his contributions as an LGA Member Peer and Regional Peer for London.
Beyond the realm of local government, Sam brings a wealth of experience from his nine-year tenure with the Ministry of Defence. His collaboration with the MOD persists, as he volunteers part-time. In more personal pursuits, Sam cherishes moments spent walking his spirited pair of springer spaniels and occasionally finds solace behind the wheel of a tractor.
