Stafford Borough Council: Local Plan Engagement
The project
This is a multi-functional community involvement and engagement tool, through a new digital application for all ages developed to share information about the new local plan, educate about the role of planning across a range of topics and stimulate interest across Stafford Borough and beyond.  A two-minute YouTube video presentation for the Stafford Borough Local Plan 2020-2040 Preferred Options consultation – October to December 2022 has been produced and can be viewed here.
It has enhanced engagement in planning with the general public, key stakeholders, secondary schools, councillors, neighbouring councils on the future opportunity areas in the district and has the potential to support the planning profession nationally, to share a positive image as well as encouraging a future generation of officers.
The benefits
The new approach to local plan engagement resulted in over 2,500 individual views through the council’s YouTube channel, facilitated by over 6,000 views of the Local Plan webpage and over 600 responses to the consultation.
The project partnered with a local company based in Stafford to capture still and moving drone footage as well as producing the video, using a voiceover and script from the council as well as access to council-owned land through flight permissions.
