The DCN has submitted a response to the Government’s Industrial Strategy consultation.
It includes a call for funding and responsibility over the national skills and employment schemes to be devolved to local areas so they can match employers with the skills they need alongside the power to secure the infrastructure to support communities and build desperately-needed new homes.
Fundamentally, the Strategy must recognise and unlock the potential for growth across the whole country, rather than just in metropolitan areas.
Our response sets out how the Strategy must be underpinned by a flexible, local approach to growth which unleashes the potential for local economies nationwide by recognising the central role that local authorities can play in supporting local economies.
